Satellite Direct-to-Device Goes Beyond Phones: FCC Opens Unlicensed Spectrum to Satellites

On August 6, 2026 the FCC adopted a rulemaking (FCC 26-51) that would let devices in the Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 920MHz bands transmit directly to satellites.
