Hello, this is Ryuta Hamamoto from TIMEWELL. Today is a tech-service note.

I'll be honest: every time I hear "SEO is dead," I smile a little. 2026 Google search is not 2024's product. AI Overview owns the top of the SERP. Users often get answers without clicking.

That is exactly what makes it interesting.

Tricks stopped working. Businesses that truly help customers get paid for it. Below I publish the AI prompts and tactics I use with clients: GBP optimization, backlink strategy, AI-era content design. Twenty plays in eight chapters.

Read the 2026 SEO map correctly

Before tactics, check the map. Old maps only burn energy.

How AI Overview and AI Mode changed CTR

AI Overview rolled hard through 2024–2025 and became default search UX by 2026. Type a question, get an AI summary on top; deeper users switch to AI Mode for dialogue. Zero-click search spiked.

Some studies show organic CTR on informational queries down by tens of percent after AI Overview — "what is X" and "how to Y" get satisfied by the summary.

Do not only mourn. AI Overview always shows source links. LLMO, being cited as a trusted source, still delivers high-intent traffic. Models prefer high E-E-A-T and primary-source content.

Google core update themes into 2026

Core updates still land several times a year. 2024–2026 consistently killed thin content and rewarded real usefulness.

Three 2026 themes stand out:

  1. Mechanical AI spam is gone from results. Google does not ban AI use; it bans AI content with no user value.
  2. Experience inside E-E-A-T got heavier. First-hand product use, on-site reporting, hard-won craft (things models cannot invent) move rankings.
  3. User signals. Quick bounces hurt; long engaged sessions help. Intent fit is judged more harshly.

What never changed: user-first and E-E-A-T

However complex ranking gets, Google still lives on user trust. Deceptive tactics die long-term.

Element Meaning Proof
Experience Author's real practice Case studies, before/after photos, stories
Expertise Deep domain knowledge Credentials, technical explainers
Authoritativeness Mentions by trusted sites Industry press, backlinks
Trustworthiness Operator clarity and accuracy Company profile, face photo, invoice registration

YMYL (health, finance, law) judges E-E-A-T ruthlessly. Polish expertise and express it cleanly online — that is still the strongest SEO.

Strategy foundation — set business context

Before tactics: define your business context and load it into AI tools.

Why "organize your own company" is step one

"Give me SEO for plumbers" yields generic advice: research keywords, write blogs. Useful AI needs to know who you are, which market, which customer.

Context quality sets the ceiling on every later tactic.

Structure to feed AI tools

Use this as a system prompt so the model becomes your dedicated SEO director, not a generic consultant.

【Business context setup prompt】

We are starting SEO work. Remember all of the following about my business and always use it for audits, strategy, and competitive analysis. Do not ask me to restate this later.

【Business basics】
- Business name: [company/store]
- Address: [full]
- Phone: [number]
- Website URL: [URL]
- Google Business Profile URL: [GBP URL]
- Years in business: [N]
- Team size: [solo / 5 / 50…]

【Services and market】
- Primary service: [revenue pillar]
- Secondary services: [2], [3], [4]
- Service areas: [city1], [city2], [city3]
- Target customer: [ideal ICP]
- Average order value: [amount]

【SEO goals】
- Top 5 target keywords: [1–5]
- Keywords already ranking: […]
- Keywords that should rank but don't: […]

【Current state】
- Google reviews: [count] total, [stars] avg, [N] new/month
- Site monthly traffic: [N]
- Biggest SEO problem: [e.g. losing Map Pack, traffic but no leads]

【Competitors】
1. [A] - [URL] - [why they win]
2. [B] - [URL] - [why they win]
3. [C] - [URL] - [why they win]

【Past work】
- SEO already tried: [e.g. monthly blog, agency with no results]

【How I want you to work】
- Prefer quick wins before long-horizon plays
- Always label impact (H/M/L) and time-to-result
- Competitive comparisons as spreadsheets
- No guesses — data-backed action plans only

Build the competitive premise

With context loaded, "suggest blog topics" stops returning generic "how to fix a leak" and starts returning strategic angles that exploit competitor gaps and high-ticket jobs.

From here: 20 tactics, starting with the fastest revenue lever for local businesses — Google Business Profile.

Google Business Profile — 8 plays

For stores, clinics, professional services, and field trades, GBP often beats website SEO for speed. Own the local pack (map + three businesses) and inquiry volume jumps.

1. Category audit — fastest Map Pack lever

Main and secondary categories dominate GBP ranking. Most owners freeze the first choice forever.

Google maintains thousands of categories, constantly adding more. The best-fit niche category competitors ignore can move rank fast.

【AI prompt: category audit】

You are a local SEO expert. Using my business context ([name], [primary service]), propose optimal GBP categories.

1. One main category: highest relevant volume that accurately describes us.
2. 5–10 secondary categories.
3. Categories competitors ([A], [B]) likely use, plus niche differentiators.

Validate by searching the category name and checking which businesses appear.

2. Attributes — underrated ranking signal

Parking, Wi-Fi, women staff, online quotes — attributes matter as voice/AI search gets more specific ("dentist near me with parking").

【AI prompt: missing attributes】

Given my business context and [target customer] needs, list GBP attributes to add, grouped as:
1. Facilities/access
2. Service features
3. Payment methods
4. Safety/hygiene

Highlight attributes competitors underuse that customers care about.

3. Review velocity — freshness beats old star averages

Google does not only average stars. Recency and velocity matter. Ten 4.5★ reviews last month often beat one hundred 5★ reviews from three years ago. Google wants currently active, currently praised businesses.

【AI prompt: review acquisition system】

Design a system for steady, natural Google review acquisition:
1. Best ask timing in the customer journey
2. Three short SMS/email templates with easy links
3. In-person staff talk track
4. Internal incentive ideas tied to staff performance

4. Review replies — ~120 free SEO pages a year

Replies are indexed. "Thanks!" templates waste SEO. Weave service names, city names, and solved problems into warm 3–4 sentence replies.

【AI prompt: SEO-aware review reply】

Write a review reply that boosts SEO.

【Customer review】
"Staff were very kind. I'd use you again."

【Requirements】
1. Thank the customer
2. Naturally include [city] and [primary service]
3. Reference the specific service used
4. Soft next-visit or cross-sell line
5. 3–4 sentences, warm tone

5. GBP posts — 2–3 per week signal activity

Regular posts raise local visibility. Include city and service names.

【AI prompt: one-month post calendar】

From my business context, build a 1-month GBP calendar (2×/week = 8 posts).
Mix: Updates, Offers, Events, Products/Services.
Markdown table: date | type | image idea | 100–150 char copy with keywords | CTA button

6. Services section — abandoned keyword real estate

Up to ~300 characters per service description. Match search queries to offers.

【AI prompt: service descriptions】

Write a GBP Services description for [service name].
1. ≤300 characters
2. Lead with primary customer benefit
3. Include [kw1], [kw2], [kw3]
4. Plain language, no jargon

7. Description A/B — three versions

750-character business description is your first pitch. Generate three angles and rotate monthly.

【AI prompt: three description patterns】

Write three ≤750-char GBP descriptions:
A Authority: years, volume, credentials
B Pain relief: customer frustrations and resolutions
C Local warmth: community, people, approachability
All: put [city]+[primary service] in the first 100 characters.

8. Photo naming and consistency

IMG_1234.jpg wastes image SEO. Rename to city-service-business.jpg before upload. Geotags strengthen local signals.

【AI prompt: filename list】

Create 20 optimized GBP photo filenames:
format city-service-detail.jpg (ASCII + hyphens)
cover exterior, interior, staff, work, before/after
English only

Website SEO — 5 plays

GBP is the business card; the site is the 24/7 salesperson.

9. Keyword gap analysis

Find keywords competitors rank for that you ignore — proven demand.

【AI prompt: keyword gaps】

Analyze [competitor A URL] and [competitor B URL]. List 10 keyword gaps I under-cover.
Prioritize transactional intent.
For each: proposed new page title.
Table: keyword | intent | proposed title

10. Money-page audit — dig page-two gold

Service and pricing pages stuck at 11–20 already have partial Google trust. Headings, internal links, and content adds can push page one.

【AI prompt: money-page optimization】

Audit this money page ([URL or paste]) for target keyword [KW]:
1. Title tag and H1 options
2. Content gaps vs user questions
3. E-E-A-T additions
4. CTA placement and copy

11. City × service pages

One homepage cannot win every "city + service" query. Build unique landing pages per area with local cases, local problems, local reviews, local landmarks — not pure city-name swaps.

【AI prompt: local LP wireframe】

I offer [service] in [city A/B/C]. Wireframe unique LPs with:
1. City-specific needs
2. Placeholder for local case studies
3. Local review block
4. Local landmarks/transit for relevance

12. Search Console — fastest page-two fixes

GSC is primary data. High impressions, positions 11–20, low CTR = highest ROI.

【AI prompt: GSC action plan】

Here is 3 months of GSC query data (query, clicks, impressions, CTR, position):
[paste]

Pick top 5 to improve under:
- impressions ≥ [N]/month
- average position 11–20
- business-relevant intent
Action plan per keyword.

13. Review sentiment → web copy

Companies write feature language; converters write customer language. One remodeler swapped "technical excellence" for "peace of mind during and after the job" and lifted inquiries 1.4× after mining reviews.

【AI prompt: customer language extraction】

Here are ~50 Google reviews (us + competitors):
[paste]

Extract for copy:
1. Pain points before buying
2. Benefits and joy after
3. Distinct phrases customers actually use

Internal links help crawlers and pass PageRank. Link strong pages into conversion pages. Isolated pages may never index.

Topic clusters: pillar page + cluster articles linked both ways mark topical authority.

【AI prompt: internal link plan】

Pages:
[URL + title list]

1. Which should be pillars?
2. Cluster → pillar links with anchor text
3. Orphan risks and where to link from

Great content without external votes rarely wins competitive terms.

Copy where winners get links — same sources, same keywords.

【AI prompt: backlink targets】

Competitor [URL] backlink profile:
[paste]

List 10 priority targets:
1. Local portals, associations, chambers (easy registration)
2. Guest-post industry media
3. Exclude spam and irrelevant foreign sites
Approach advice per target.

15. Local citation consistency — NAP mismatches hurt

Name, Address, Phone must match across the web. Mixed formats and old numbers confuse Google.

【AI prompt: NAP cleanup】

Correct NAP:
- Name: […]
- Address: […]
- Phone: […]

Scraped listings:
[paste]

List mismatches and a correction-request email template.

16. Search-intent mapping — concentrate on stage 4

Journey: awareness, interest, comparison, then purchase-ready. Stage-4 long tails ("exterior paint City cost") convert better than head terms.

For linkbait, publish primary data experts want to cite, not "what is SEO" head content.

【AI prompt: original data content ideas】

Propose 3 original data/report ideas for [industry] that bloggers and journalists would cite.
Must be buildable from our customer data/surveys at low cost.
News-angle each; target media types.

Press releases and media

PR wires (PR TIMES, ValuePress, etc.) and trade contributions mint backlinks. 10th anniversary, new service, survey results are enough — include the site URL. Start small media, step up.

Content strategy — 4 plays for durable edge

Optimization alone is not enough. Keep shipping content that earns traffic and revenue.

17. Content gap — questions competitors answer and you don't

Pre-purchase FAQs and fears: if competitors answer and you don't, you lose the lead.

【AI prompt: FAQ and blog themes】

For [service], list 20 pre-purchase FAQs and fears.
Pick 5 deep enough for full posts; give titles and H2/H3 outlines.

18. Entity optimization — Knowledge Graph registration

Google thinks in entities. Schema (JSON-LD LocalBusiness) teaches Google who you are.

【AI prompt: LocalBusiness schema】

From my business context generate LocalBusiness JSON-LD with as many properties as possible (geo, priceRange, aggregateRating, sameAs…).

19. Reverse-engineer competitor GBP posts

【AI prompt: post strategy reverse】

Competitor [name] last 3 months of GBP posts:
[paste]

1. Theme mix
2. Tone
3. How I can beat their approach

20. Monthly SEO report — drop vanity metrics

Track organic inquiries, GBP directions, and call clicks — not just PV and rank.

【AI prompt: monthly insight】

This month GBP Insights + Analytics conversions:
[paste]

Compare to last month/goals. Executive summary + 3 next-month actions in revenue language, minimal jargon.

Extra 2026 plays — AI Overview and LLMO

Get cited by AI Overview

LLMO traits:

  1. Conclusion first: direct answer under the heading
  2. Structured data: tables, lists
  3. Freshness: years in titles and body, visible updates

【AI prompt: LLMO rewrite】

Rewrite this post for AI Overview citation:
[paste]

1. Open with ≤3 bullet conclusions
2. Convert comparisons/steps to tables or numbered lists
3. Prefer factual, assertive phrasing over hedges

Raise E-E-A-T concretely

  • Full author bios, credentials, socials
  • Primary assets only you have: surveys, site photos, interview video
  • Transparent company pages: face photo, office photos, map, invoice registration number
  • YouTube explainers embedded on related posts
  • Wikidata + schema for Knowledge Panel odds

Mobile-first and page experience

Mobile-first indexing is complete. Font size, tap targets, and load speed decide mobile SEO. >3s load loses ~53% of mobile users. WebP, lazy load, JS/CSS diet, server response.

Technical SEO — Core Web Vitals

Metric Meaning Target Main fixes
LCP Main content paint ≤2.5s Compress images, WebP
INP Interaction response ≤200ms Optimize JS
CLS Layout shift ≤0.1 Size images/ads in advance

Measure with PageSpeed Insights.

90-day execution roadmap

Do not run all 20 at once. SEO is a marathon.

Month 1 — foundation and quick wins

Load business context into AI. Finish GBP categories, attributes, services. Launch review campaign. Fix critical PageSpeed issues. Local pack often moves here — early wins sustain motivation.

Month 2 — site and content

Money-page rewrites. City × service LP wireframes and publish cadence. 2×/week GBP posts. SEO-aware review replies.

Month 3 — authority and analytics

Competitor backlink outreach. NAP cleanup. GSC page-two rescue. First monthly performance report and next-quarter plan.

How to meet this shift

2026 SEO is not a fight against the search engine. It is proof, through an AI filter, that your business truly serves users.

AI Overview kills thin tricks. Honest operators who express quality correctly online get rare upside. That is the part I care about most when I work with field teams.

TIMEWELL's WARP consulting partners on AI-native SEO and marketing: GBP, LLMO content, keyword strategy, backlinks, monthly performance. Firms without a full-time SEO lead can still build an AI-era acquisition base.

If internal knowledge is chaos, SEO alone scatters tribal knowledge. Stand up ZEROCK first so SEO learnings and customer data are searchable across the firm.

If AI Overview never cites you, or ads rise while organic stalls, let's talk.

Thanks for reading to the end. I hope your business sits at the top of the results and meets the customers who need you.
