Entry and Route Changes
Opening time
From September 13, the morning opening time moved from 9:00am to 8:50am. A ten-minute change, but it benefits visitors who arrive early to maximize their day.
West Gate walking route
The walking route connecting the East Gate area (near Yumeshima Station on the Osaka Metro Chuo Line) to the West Gate along the outer road has been extended:
- Before: Route available until approximately noon
- After: Available from 8:30am to 1:00pm
Distance: approximately 1.6km, typically 24-30 minutes on foot. This route allows visitors who arrive at the eastern train station to enter via the West Gate, which tends to be less congested.
West Gate reservation slot timing
West Gate reservation slot release time changed:
- Before: 2 days prior, 8:00-9:00am
- After (from September 12): 2 days prior, 7:00-8:00am
Visitors targeting the West Gate should adjust their advance reservation approach accordingly.

Stamp Rally Updates
Parade venue stamp
A new stamp has been added near the Angola pavilion, for the "Ao to Yoru no Niji Parade" (Blue and Rainbow Night Parade). Available 10:30am to 4:00pm. The parade runs nightly.
2027 Expo preview stamp
In the Commons E area, behind the Expo Manga Exhibition venue, a stamp for the 2027 Yokohama Flower Expo (GREEN×EXPO 2027) has been added. Check updated maps and on-site posters for current stamp locations.
Pavilion Exhibition Updates
Egypt Pavilion
A Tutankhamun replica — long rumored — has been confirmed and added to the Egypt exhibition. Visitors describe it as making the pavilion feel substantially more authentic and impressive.
Italy Pavilion
A new "Justice Flag" exhibit has been added, along with exterior decorations reflecting the Italian flag colors. San Pellegrino (Italian sparkling water) is now offered free to visitors inside the pavilion.
USA Pavilion
The American pavilion updated its exhibition in late August to reflect the current Trump administration, having originally launched with Biden-era content. A notable mid-run change that surprised visitors expecting the original layout.
null2 (Nuru Nuru) Pavilion
The "Nuru Lottery" launched September 1 — drawing a result invites participants into Dialog Mode, a special immersive experience within the pavilion. The lottery mechanism uses a dial-style system, adding an element of chance. The pavilion also offers a walk-through mode from 2:30pm to 3:30pm daily, allowing entry without a reservation.
Food and Restaurant Updates
EU Pavilion — free tasting food truck
A food truck offering free tastings of dishes combining Japanese and European cuisines has been deployed near the EU Pavilion. Limited to the first 100 visitors per session. Staff with QR codes nearby offer surveys; completing the survey earns one of three gifts: a wooden magnet made from domestic timber, chopsticks, or a tote bag (linked to the EU Pavilion's Instagram).
German restaurant — new menu
The German restaurant near the West Gate has added Spanish-style paella and Czech cherry juice to its menu. Seating is first-come, first-served. Visitor feedback on the paella (served with a soft drink): "surprisingly good."
Pavilion Reservation System Updates
Kansai Pavilion
Expanded release windows throughout the day: 9:00am, 10:30am, 11:30am, 12:30pm, and afternoon slots at 4:30pm, 5:30pm, and 6:30pm.
Pasona Pavilion
Converted to fully pre-reserved (no walk-up queue). Same-day slots released four times daily: 9:00am, noon, 3:00pm, and 6:00pm. Visitors must reserve via smartphone or app. Once notified of availability, you have 30 minutes to arrive before the reservation expires.
Ireland Pavilion
Walk-up first-come entry limited to 9:00am-10:00am only. Outside that window, unified first-come-first-served reservation system applies.
Panasonic "Nomo no Kuni" Pavilion
Special family entry slots available: children 15 and under (as of April 1, 2025) and accompanying guardians can use designated family slots.
High-demand pavilions
"Life of the Future," "Dynamic Equilibrium of Life," "Monster Hunter Bridge," and "Osaka Healthcare Pavilion" are consistently difficult to enter. Visitors should research that day's release schedule and be prepared to act immediately when slots open.
Practical Summary for Final-Week Visitors
Before you arrive:
- Confirm current pavilion reservation release times on the official website
- Note the updated opening time (8:50am) and extended walking route window (8:30am-1:00pm)
- Set notifications for reservation apps 2 days before your visit (West Gate slots now release at 7:00am)
On the day:
- East Gate is typically more crowded than West Gate in the morning — the walking route to West Gate is worth considering
- Check posted schedules on-site for same-day release windows; these are updated continuously
- Allow 30 minutes to enter once notified of a cancellation slot
Experience the Expo, not just the logistics: The changes and reservation complexity can consume significant attention. Once you've secured your slots for the priority pavilions, put the phone away and spend time in the exhibitions themselves.
