SXSW Session Report #47: Women Changing the Future of Solar Energy Business
This talk touched on the Earth, the universe, and life itself. In modern society, how we use energy is a central theme, and the potential of solar power was highlighted. In particular, a project was introduced that is tackling electricity shortages in rural Africa by designing ultra-low-cost batteries and providing a rental service. This project has transformed the lives of many people, including the case of Fabiano, a barber from Tanzania. As technologies connecting the Earth and space continue to be developed, speakers noted that it is not only the first world that needs attention — people in places like Morocco and Bangladesh who dream of working in space also need the infrastructure to make those dreams possible. Designers and many others were called upon to share their visions and work together toward a beautiful future.
Solar energy is an indispensable part of life on Earth and has a profound impact on the lives of people around the world.
