Gaudiy operates Gaudiy Fanlink, a Web3 fan platform, and BALCOLONY. is the creative studio behind some of Japan's highest-profile animation and entertainment works—including Your Name. and Demon Slayer. Together they've established C4C Labs to develop production and education businesses in the Web3 domain.
The reasoning is direct: the Web3 transition is moving from decentralized blockchain infrastructure toward platforms that create real opportunities for individual creators. BALCOLONY.'s involvement is significant—they bring credibility and an established track record with major IP, which is exactly the kind of signal that the creator community responds to.
The structural shift is from centralized platforms (where the platform captures most value) to decentralized systems (where creators own their assets and revenue streams). Web3 makes this more than theoretical. C4C Labs is positioned to be both a production studio and an educational resource for creators navigating this transition.
2. Brave Group: VTubers Into the Metaverse
Brave group operates VTuber and virtual entertainment properties and has now raised 1.37 billion yen in a new round, bringing its total funding to 2.3 billion yen. The funds will support:
- Strengthening global business development
- Expanding B2B solutions within the metaverse marketing division
- Further development of the Brave Engine platform
- M&A integration of Virtual Entertainment (which operates "Vspo!") and MateReal (which operates "Palette Project")
The VTuber-to-metaverse path makes strategic sense. Companies already managing 3D virtual characters, live streaming infrastructure, and large concurrent audiences have real advantages when building metaverse experiences. The load-testing, streaming technology, and 3D modeling capabilities that VTuber operations require are directly applicable to metaverse environments.
Cover Corporation, which operates Hololive, is another example of a VTuber company expanding into metaverse—the synergies are genuine.
3. pan-for-you: Bread Waste and the Freezing Discovery
pan-for-you raised approximately 600 million yen to expand across all business lines. The company's mission is to connect the three sides of the artisan bread market: those who make it, those who sell it, and those who eat it.
The key insight driving this business: high-quality artisan bread has a very short shelf life. Bakeries discard significant volumes daily. pan-for-you found that freezing preserves quality effectively—eliminating the waste problem by extending the window for delivery and consumption.
This model has implications beyond bread. Many perishable artisan food categories have short shelf lives that create structural waste. The freezing-and-distribution model is a transferable solution. The discovery that freezing doesn't compromise quality in the bread category is the kind of finding that can unlock similar businesses in other product categories.
What These Three Releases Have in Common
What struck me reading these together: the Web3 space is attracting genuine investment and company formation from established players (not just speculators), metaverse infrastructure is maturing through companies with existing audience and technical capability, and some of the most interesting problems being solved are very practical—like bread going stale.
Business opportunity exists on both frontiers simultaneously.
