Three notable press releases from PR TIMES analyzed: Sound ART's NFT experience event at RED TOKYO TOWER, Hacobell's logistics DX platform (a Seino HD × Raksul joint venture), and WASSHA's 1.14 billion yen raise to build Africa's largest retail store platform.

PR TIMES is Japan's largest press release distribution service—and tracking what companies announce there provides an early signal on where investment and entrepreneurial energy is flowing. According to PR TIMES's own analysis, "AI" was the #1 rising keyword in 2025 (up 1.68x year-over-year), and "AI agent" grew 57x to 2,580 releases. This is the context in which this week's three releases sit.

Sound ART: Where NFTs Meet Physical Experience

Sound ART hosted an immersive sound and art experience event at RED TOKYO TOWER featuring creators including Tetsuya Komuro, Tera Terada, and popman3580. Five works were auctioned over five consecutive days on the NFT platform OVO.

NFT Market: Then vs. Now

Dimension Then (circa 2022) Now (2026)
Market state Peak NFT boom, speculative trading Post-bubble, consolidating around utility
Primary use cases Digital art trading, speculation Event ticketing, membership, brand experience
Technical base Ethereum-centric Multi-chain, lower gas fees
Consumer understanding High interest, limited comprehension Growing through direct experience

Sound ART's approach—combining a physical event with NFT auctions—represents the direction the market has moved. Offline "embodied" experiences are a more effective way to communicate NFT value to general consumers than purely digital explanations.

Hacobell: Logistics DX as an Open Platform

Seino Holdings and Raksul migrated their Hacobell logistics business into a dedicated joint venture: Hacobell Co., Ltd.

Parameter Details
Established August 1, 2022
Ownership Seino HD 50.1%, Raksul 49.9%
CEO Kenji Hazama
Revenue (launch) 3.4 billion yen
Target Hundreds of billions of yen within several years

Why Logistics DX Is Urgent

  • Driver shortage: Japan's 2024 Problem (working-hour limits) has created a structural labor crisis in road freight
  • Carbon neutrality: Social pressure to reduce CO2 emissions across supply chains
  • Rising costs: Fuel prices and labor costs have both increased substantially
  • Fragmented digitization: Most logistics companies run proprietary internal systems that cannot interoperate

What Hacobell Is Trying to Build

The combination is deliberate. Raksul brings platform-building IT capability. Seino HD brings Japan's #1 commercial logistics customer base and sales network. Together, they're attempting to build what they call an "open public platform"—infrastructure that the entire logistics industry can plug into, reducing the fragmentation problem.

As of 2026, Hacobell has entered what it describes as its "second founding phase," refreshing its brand and accelerating expansion.

WASSHA: Off-Grid Africa as a Platform Opportunity

WASSHA, a University of Tokyo spin-out, completed a 1.14 billion yen Series C round (investors: Dai-ichi Life Insurance, Daikin Industries, Mistletoe Japan, Yamaha Motor, UTEC).

WASSHA's Business Model

  • Solar LED lantern rental: Solar-charged lanterns rented to consumers in communities without grid electricity
  • Retail store platform: Using local kiosks—the primary point of purchase in these communities—as distribution infrastructure
  • Fintech integration: Mobile money payment rails

Funding History

Round Amount Notable Investors
Series C (2022) 1.14 billion yen Dai-ichi Life, Daikin, Mistletoe Japan, Yamaha Motor, UTEC
Additional (2025) 300 million yen Undisclosed
Total raised ~3.5 billion yen

Approximately 600 million people in Africa lack electricity access. WASSHA's model—combining Japanese manufacturing and engineering capability with local retail infrastructure—is a template for how Japanese companies can build businesses in emerging markets while solving real social problems.

Common Theme: Technology Transforming Existing Industries

These three releases share a pattern visible across the 2026 startup landscape:

  • Technology + existing industry: NFT × art experience, IT × logistics, IoT × off-grid retail
  • Platform business models: All three are building ecosystems, not single products
  • Social impact alongside growth: Environmental consideration, logistics efficiency, energy access

The dominant keywords in PR TIMES—AI, AI agents, stablecoins—suggest this pattern will only accelerate.
